Happy 30th anniversary! Off-Broadway's Primary Stages will produce new plays by Tony winner Billy Porter, Theresa Rebeck (Smash) and David Ives (Venus in Fur) as part of their 2014-15 season at The Duke on 42nd Street.
The New York premiere of Rebeck's new comedy Poor Behavior, directed by Evan Cabnet (The Performers), will kick off Primary Stages' season in July and run through September. The Dead Accounts scribe's new play is a devilish argument about infidelity and America and follows two couples spending a not-so-idyllic weekend in the country.
Porter, the star of Harvey Fierstein and Cyndi Lauper's Tony-winning musical Kinky Boots, will present the world premiere of his play While I Yet Live. Directed by Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall), the show explores coming of age in Pittsburgh amongst a bevy of fascinating and strong-willed women. While I Yet Live will run September through November.
Tony winner John Rando (Urinetown) will direct a new collection of short plays by Ives, titled Lives of the Saints. The "delightfully funny and unforgettable" works will run February 2015 through March.
